Cornerstone presents: BBQ fiesta June 4th
Cornerstone is gearing up for a summer full of fun, learning, and family connection with three exciting events designed to support young children and their families.

The summer kicks off with a Community BBQ Party on Thursday, June 4, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Cornerstone office, located at 2057 SW Salsbury Ave. Presented in Spanish, this family-friendly event will feature raffle prizes, fun and games, and summer activity kits for attendees to take home. It’s a great opportunity for families to connect and gather resources to keep children engaged throughout the summer.

On Tuesday, June 17, Cornerstone will host Kinder Motor Camp from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at James W. Lintott Elementary School. Designed for incoming kindergartners, this camp helps children develop the fine and gross motor skills that are essential for success in the classroom. Through hands-on activities and guided play, students will build confidence and strengthen kindergarten readiness skills.

The summer concludes with KinderCarnival on Friday, August 8, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., also at James W. Lintott Elementary School. This fun-filled family event is open to incoming and outgoing kindergartners and their families. Guests can enjoy a carnival-style atmosphere complete with games, prizes, and lunch, while celebrating the transition into and out of kindergarten.

Families are encouraged to RSVP for Kinder Motor Camp and KinderCarnival by calling 360-219-3657 or 360-219-7267.

Cornerstone looks forward to welcoming families to these exciting summer events that promote learning, connection, and fun.

High School Students Help Cornerstone Garden Grow with New Raised Beds

Students from W.F. West High School recently made a meaningful contribution to the Cornerstone Community Garden through a collaborative effort between the school’s woodshop program and the W.F. West FFA chapter.

Under the guidance of Mr. Wagar, students in the woodshop program built several raised garden beds that will expand the garden’s growing space and provide additional opportunities for families to grow fresh fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Members of the W.F. West FFA chapter, led by Mr. Guenther, donated the soil and helped fill the new garden boxes in preparation for planting. Students Jesse Snodgrass, Yael Garcia, and Adele Guenther were among the FFA members involved in the project.

This partnership is a great example of students using their skills and service to make a positive impact in the community. Cornerstone extends its sincere thanks to Mr. Wagar, Mr. Guenther, and all of the students who contributed their time and effort. Their generosity will help the Cornerstone Community Garden continue to grow and serve local families for years to come.

Families visiting the Spring Youth Fair at the Southwest Washington Fairgrounds were greeted by a colorful and creative activity hosted by Cornerstone and the Chehalis School District. Together, the two organizations welcomed hundreds of children to their booth, where young fairgoers had the opportunity to design and create their own paper crowns.

The activity was a hit with kids of all ages, and before long, handcrafted crowns could be seen throughout the fairgrounds as children proudly wore their creations from booth to booth.

The Chehalis School District and Cornerstone extend a sincere thank you to all the families who stopped by to visit, create, and connect. It was a joy to see so many smiling faces and to be part of an event that celebrates youth, learning, and community.

Cornerstone Author Night Draws Big Crowd for Halee R.R. Hernandez

Cornerstone’s recent Author Night was a tremendous success, as families gathered for an evening of storytelling, community, and culture featuring children’s author Halee R.R. Hernandez.

Each family in attendance received a free copy of Rosa & Eddy: Two Gems, allowing them to take home and continue enjoying the story together.
Guests were also treated to delicious Cuban-inspired cuisine from The Crowded Kitchen, adding a flavorful touch to an already special evening.

Cornerstone extends its sincere thanks to Halee R.R. Hernandez, The Crowded Kitchen, and all the families who joined in making Author Night such a meaningful and well-attended event.
